Motorola Announces Crush, Budget Touchscreen Handset
Motorola is out with a new budget touchscreen handset to maybe compete with the likes of Samsung’s Corby or LG’s Cookie. The Motorola Crush looks like quite a simple yet slick handset that may seem like it’s upside down but it’s not.
Motorola has gone with a new concept in the UI and design. The buttons are placed on the top near the earpiece and from the same image it seems like the UI is also designed the same with functions located on the top instead of traditionally at the lower end of the display. I’m not entirely sure if this will catch on as it seems like it could be difficult to use from that angle.
The company has also incorporated a few new features into the device like tap-to-silence which lets you silence the ringer with a tap to its exterior. It also comes with a virtual QWERTY keypad and other features that include -
2.8-inch touchscreen with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution
Bluetooth with A2DP
2 megapixel camera
microSD card support up to 16GB
3.5mm earphone socket
Motorola’s Crush is expected to be available in Q4 2009 with US Cellular, but we can hope that it also works its way across the pond to our side. The price is unknown but Motorola is insisting that it’s ‘a phone with the latest technology without breaking the bank.’
