After a user tipped Ars Technica about a release date of June 2010 that was apparently in one of the Office 2010 pages, Ars went digging. When they came up with nothing, so they did what they do best – they used their sources.
After contacting Microsoft directly, a spokesperson said, “We expect Office 2010 and related products to be generally available in June 2010”.
With the technical preview recently closing and the public beta opening up, it’s obvious that they’re making some progress. It’s very possible that they’ll have it done in June, and that also fits with their initial estimate of “the first half of 2010”.
Assuming there are no major delays (which you can never rule out with Microsoft) we’ll have a DVD with both x86 and x64 copies of Office 2010 in our hands in time for summer!
